When the Wind Calls Your Name
- A Profile of The Margarets

When the Wind Calls Your Name is a Zeitgeist Special Edition telling the story of The Margarets, four brothers and cousins growing up on the tiny island of Giske, off the west coast of Norway. With nothing much else to do on the isolated rocky outcrop in the North Sea, they listened to sounds from far-away places via the radio, and sent for mail-order records from Manchester, learning to play their own music along the way.

Inspired by the likes of The Smiths, Joy Division and The Stone Roses, they formed a band (named after their long-suffering local post-woman) and went on to write their own songs. Ten years later, they found themselves riding high in the Norwegian album charts. Their first album, 'What Kept You?' reached #2 in 2003, and the 2005 follow-up 'Love Will Haunt You Down' reached #5. Their long-awaited third album, 'Twenty Years Erased' - recorded in an old boathouse just inches from the ocean - is due for release January 2008. The Margarets recently played at the In The City music festival in Manchester to rave reviews and were featured on Xfm (Manchester) performing a live session for Clint Boon.
